What we keepQué guardamos

Account: your email; if you sign in with email, your password (Google stores it encrypted; we never see it); your date of birth (only to check that you’re over 18), your country, your language and your music service (Spotify or Apple Music). If you sign in with Apple or Google, that company confirms it’s you and gives us your email; with Apple you can hide it, and then we get an address that Apple forwards to you. We don’t ask Apple for your name; Google also shares your name and photo with us, which stay in your account record but which we don’t use or show in TuneIt. Profile: your username, your name, your photo, your bio, your favorite genres, your top 5, and whether your profile is private. What you do in the app: ratings and reviews, comments and likes, community posts and comments, private and group messages, who you follow, your favorites, your listen-later list, the communities you belong to, who you block and who you report. App usage, tied to your account: when you open the app, which pages you open, what you type in search, whether you tap the listen button, how the welcome tour went, whether you share a story, whether you allow notifications and which ones you open, and any errors the app runs into. And, if you turn notifications on, the identifier your phone uses to receive them.

What forPara qué

To make the app work: the feed, profiles, communities, messages and notifications. To check that you meet the minimum age. To moderate: handle reports and enforce blocks. And to improve the app with usage numbers. Nothing else: there are no ads today, we don’t build profiles of you, and we don’t buy or sell data.

Who sees it inside the appQuién lo ve dentro de la app

Your email and date of birth: nobody but you. Your profile, ratings and reviews: anyone with an account, unless you make your profile private; then only you. What you post in a community is public even if your profile is private. Messages: only the people in the chat. Your profile photo and any community covers you upload are served from a public address. The reports you file are seen only by us.

Who processes it for usQuién los procesa por nosotros

Google Firebase stores all the data and handles accounts; its servers are in the United States. Expo delivers notifications to your phone: it receives your phone’s notification identifier and the text of each notification, never the content of a private message; on each launch it also receives the app version and a random install identifier, used to update the app. Apple delivers notifications on iPhone. These three companies work on our behalf and don’t use your data for anything of their own. If you sign in with Apple or Google, that company is the one that checks it’s you, with its own account and its own terms; when you delete your TuneIt account, we ask Apple or Google to remove TuneIt’s access to yours.

When you search for music, what you type is sent from our server to MusicBrainz to run the search. To build album and song pages we send Spotify and ListenBrainz details about the record, never about you. If you choose Apple Music, our server asks Apple for the album or song using the record’s details and the store country (your account’s, or your phone’s if it has none); we never send Apple your account. If you link your Apple Music account to rate what’s playing, the app checks on your phone the Apple number of the song that’s playing, only while TuneIt is open, and sends it to our server to find the song in TuneIt. Our server asks Apple about that song, with its number and the store country, and asks MusicBrainz about its recording code (ISRC) or, if MusicBrainz doesn’t know it, its title and artist; we never send them your account. We don’t keep what you listen to. You can turn the permission off anytime in your iPhone’s Settings. If you use Last.fm and link it to rate what’s playing, your Last.fm username stays on your phone. You can type it in or give TuneIt permission on Last.fm’s own page; if you do, Last.fm tells our server your username, along with an access key that we don’t keep or use. The app sends your username to our server when you link it, to check it with Last.fm, and while you have TuneIt open, to ask Last.fm what you’re listening to right then and find it in TuneIt; if needed, our server asks MusicBrainz about that song, using its MusicBrainz code or its title and artist. Last.fm only gets your Last.fm username, never your TuneIt account. We don’t keep what you listen to or your Last.fm username. You can remove it anytime in Settings, and it’s cleared when you sign out. Last.fm has its own terms and privacy policy. If you use “Rate what you listen to”: with Apple Music, the app reads on your phone, from your Music library, the Apple number of the songs you’ve played, how many times and when, and sends only the numbers to our server to find them in TuneIt; with Last.fm, our server asks Last.fm, using your Last.fm username, for what you played recently and what you play most. In both cases our server looks them up in TuneIt and, if needed, on MusicBrainz, by their code or by their title and artist; with Apple Music, it also asks Apple about those songs and their albums, using their number and the store country, never your account. We don’t keep what you listen to: what you skip stays only on your phone for 90 days and is cleared when you sign out. If you tap “Listen” on someone’s rating, that person may get a notification with your username saying you went to listen: under their bell and, if they have it on, on their phone (it can be turned off under Settings › Notifications on your phone). If you share a story to Instagram or another app, the image leaves TuneIt because you chose to. The web pages of this policy load their font from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address. Tapping an artist photo credit opens Wikimedia Commons in your browser, which connects to that site. We do not send your TuneIt account; the site receives technical connection data such as your IP address.

Where it lives and for how longDónde viven y cuánto tiempo

On Google’s and Expo’s servers in the United States. Your ratings, reviews, messages and everything else are kept for as long as your account exists. Only usage numbers delete themselves after 13 months. Google’s backups delete themselves after 7 days, and the server’s technical logs after 30.

When you delete your accountAl borrar tu cuenta

You can delete your account from Settings whenever you want. It removes your account, your profile, your ratings and reviews, your comments and likes, your posts, your messages, your one-to-one chats (for the other person too), your follows, your photos and your usage numbers; communities you created pass to their oldest member, or are deleted if nobody is left. Only these things remain: moderation reports you appear in, for 90 days and without your name if you filed them; your messages in group chats, which stay for the group with “Deleted account” instead of your name; backups, which delete themselves within 7 days; and technical logs, within 30. A story you shared outside the app can’t be deleted by us: it’s no longer in TuneIt.

From the app you can see and edit your profile, delete your ratings, comments and posts, make your profile private, turn notifications off and delete your account. By email you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to a use, limit it or withdraw your consent: write to santi990701@gmail.com from your account’s email (or, if you hid your email with Apple, tell us your @username) saying what you’re asking for. We answer within 20 business days at most and, where it applies, carry it out within the following 15 business days. Keep in mind that the app can’t work without some of the data: withdrawing consent for it means deleting the account. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can turn to the data protection authority in your country.
